Tamper 350–400 g

steel · 58 mm · flat or concave base

The gesture that closes the dose: compact the coffee evenly and vertically. You do not need a magic tamper: you need the right weight, the right base and a consistent gesture.

Weight 350–400 g

Description

The 350–400 g weight is a reference: too light and the pressure is insufficient, too heavy and you compact the bottom of the basket. The flat base is the safest choice for those starting; the concave works better with very precise dosing. The added force of the shoulder is not needed: the weight of the tamper, applied vertically, is already more than sufficient.

Use and maintenance

After use, clean the base of coffee residue (a damp cloth is enough). The concave base must always be used at the same angle: if the gesture changes, the extraction changes. A tamper does not wear out, but the base can be scratched: deep grooves trap coffee and odours.
